Triumphal Square

Stream separation
Vehicular traffic flows are separated from pedestrian traffic. Pedestrian connections, in turn, separate transit flows from movement within the square. The square exists separately as additional urban park space. By shifting transit flows "into the city," we gain the potential for developing public services along the square's perimeter, plus new urban space adjacent to heavily used city streets.
Unification
In terms of the square's geometry, it's important to ensure a regular rectangular shape, with the portion of the area lost by the tunnel entrance being restored. To connect the upper and lower sections, currently separated by a roadway, an artificial relief is being created. The relief surface is designed so that its upper part doesn't obscure the view of the surrounding buildings from a person's height.
New features
The square's primary new function is recreational. It is a city park space with several distinct zones. These include a poetry zone around the monument to Vladimir Mayakovsky, a music zone opposite the entrance to the Pyotr Tchaikovsky Concert Hall, a theater zone opposite the entrance to the Satire Theater, a park and observation deck in the southern part of the square, a children's playground, and a central area above the covered passage. Ramps and stairs connect the square's various elements and the pedestrian paths along its perimeter, transforming the entire square into a unified recreational area.
Pedestrians
Pedestrian transit is organized around the square's perimeter, with open access to the surface. The square's surface becomes a city block with its own distinct function. Transit is possible in this case, but movement along the perimeter, within an orthogonal system of city blocks, is more convenient.
Transport
In the first phase of the project, the U-turn and traffic flow through the square onto 1st Brestskaya Street were retained. The roadways within the square were closed, and a park was created on the surface. In the second phase, vehicle traffic within the square was eliminated, and the tunnel entrance and U-turn were relocated and moved outside the square, restoring the original design concepts for the square and its correct geometry. Thus, the entire perimeter of the square became pedestrianized, and the entire space was opened for direct, convenient access by the public. The closed portion of the former roadways became public spaces.
public urban spaces: passages with public functions.
Poetry
The poetry zone offers the opportunity to listen to the works of V.V. Mayakovsky. Headphones equipped with panels for selecting works are located in the steps of the amphitheater for individual listening, and loudspeakers are available for group poetry events.
