The image of the tower is defined by zigzag line, stating presence in the Rio landscape.  As any motion is rarely only straightforward, only-vertical tower would be too simple a structure to reflect all the complexities of recent ways. The illumination system creates different modes of structure’s night image: an ascending zigzag as path to the sky, a flash-mode zigzag as lightning, an illuminated “sigma”, - serve as different graphs of the activity of the city.
